Strategic assessment of technical solutions for meeting 94 t/h auxiliary steam requirements from CNE start-up thermal facility

Client: RATEN – CITON

Overview

Ludan Engineering conducted a strategic technical assessment for RATEN – CITON to identify and evaluate optimal solutions for delivering 94 tons per hour of auxiliary steam from the CNE Start-Up Thermal Facility. The project supports Romania’s nuclear infrastructure by ensuring reliable steam supply for commissioning and auxiliary operations at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant.

Key achievements include:

  • Evaluation of multiple steam generation and distribution scenarios, including retrofit and new-build options
  • Thermal and hydraulic modelling to ensure system stability, efficiency, and compatibility with existing infrastructure
  • Engineering recommendations aligned with nuclear safety standards and operational requirements
  • Support for long-term planning and investment decisions, including CAPEX/OPEX analysis and regulatory compliance.

This project highlights Ludan’s strategic engineering capabilities in high-integrity thermal systems, helping RATEN – CITON reinforce Romania’s nuclear readiness and operational resilience
