Engineering for Mintia combined cycle power installation – 1,700 MW capacity
Client: AVAX Greece
Overview
Ludan Engineering provided comprehensive engineering and sustainability services for the development of the Mintia Combined Cycle Power Installation, a landmark 1,700 MW facility positioned to become one of the largest and most efficient power plants in Southeast Europe. Commissioned by AVAX, the project plays a pivotal role in Romania’s energy transition, replacing legacy coal infrastructure with high-efficiency, low-emission gas technology.
Key achievements include:
- Engineering design of civil, mechanical, and electrical systems for combined cycle configuration, including gas turbines, HRSGs, and steam units
- Site layout optimization and utility integration to support high-capacity generation and grid connectivity
- Sustainable compliance advisory aligned with EU taxonomy, emissions standards, and environmental permitting frameworks
- Support for ESG reporting and lifecycle sustainability modelling to meet investor and regulatory expectations
This project exemplifies Ludan’s capability to deliver large-scale, future-ready energy infrastructure, helping AVAX and Romania accelerate the shift toward cleaner, more resilient power generation.
