RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel) unit for cement plant
Client: HEIDELBERG S.A. Romania
Overview
Ludan Engineering delivered the full engineering and sustainability solution for the implementation of a Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) unit at HEIDELBERG’s cement production facility, supporting the company’s transition toward low-carbon manufacturing and circular resource utilization. The project enables the substitution of conventional fossil fuels with high-calorific-value waste-derived alternatives, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and landfill dependency.
Key achievements include:
- Design and integration of RDF processing systems for waste reception, shredding, homogenization, and feeding
- Environmental compliance advisory aligned with EU directives and national waste-to-energy regulations
- Optimization of fuel characteristics to meet kiln performance, emissions control, and operational safety standards
- Sustainability modelling and reporting to support HEIDELBERG’s ESG commitments and climate targets
This project exemplifies Ludan’s expertise in engineering sustainable fuel platforms for industrial decarbonization, helping global leaders like HEIDELBERG embed circular economy principles into core production processes.
